Riff: U2 – “This is Where You Can Reach Me Now”

Sep 16, 2014

Soldier soldier/We signed our lives away/Complete surrender/The only weapon we know/Soldier soldier/We knew the world would never be the same/Soldier this is where you can reach me now

For a band with so many punk heroes, U2 sure are anything but punk. Praising punk icons for their political stances is a lot easier than having any yourself – Bono nods to this fact quite plainly in the chorus, as the frontman for a band who’s “signed their lives away” for $100 million from Apple.

Riff by Karl Ernest

Karl is a Seattle-based musician and writer at SONGLYRICS; a veteran of both east and west-coast scenes, he has performed with the likes of The Ying Yang Twins, David Arquette, Wynton Marsalis, among others. But he's no stranger to seedy dives or house shows, either.

What is a RIFF?

A RIFF is a bonsai-trimmed song review in 300 characters or less, plugging your favorite lyric. Create your own, vote others to the TOP - the lyric is your oyster.
