Riff: Pink – “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)”

Dec 19, 2012

White knuckles and sweaty palms from hanging on too tight/Clenched shut jaw, I’ve got another headache again tonight

from Blow Me (One Last Kiss) lyrics by Pink

Kicking off with an unexpected Two Door Cinema Club-esque indie-disco riff, pop’s most passive-aggressive star then succumbs to her usual over-polished electro-rock/shouty chorus formula on yet another defiant break-up anthem. Now 33, isn’t it about time she ditched the whole faux-angsty shtick?

Bull***t, anyone of any age who has ever loved and lost understands the words here, dont have to be a teenager to feel the hurt of loss and the fear of loving and trusting again.

Hey Jo. I’m not debating the fact that these lyrics can be relatable to pretty much anyone who’s gone through a turbulent relationship. I just think that Pink has covered this kind of subject matter so many times before that it’s starting to sound a bit tired. She’s a great pop star and a great live performer. But I don’t think she’s as envelope-pushing with her music as she could be.

i love pinks stuff but agree with jon….personally, for me, lyrics like “i’ll go sit with jon boy at least he knows how to hit” ARE very nauseating and show a very teenage attitude.
