As kids and the elderly’s reactions to this living world that surrounds us close in on edging out cats for the internet’s favorite past-time, the folks behind a whole series devoted to the stuff just blasted an elderly roundup of Panic! At The Disco lyrical analysis.

In the latest video for YouTubers’ Fine Bros Entertainment series called ‘React‘ — past episodes have seen our elders decipher everyone from Lorde to System of a Down — we see several older folks pick apart the Fueled By Ramen watered-down screamo statesmen’s songs “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” “Nine in the Afternoon,” “The Ballad of Mona Lisa,” and “Miss Jackson.”

One woman was impressed by the word usage in “I Write Sins Not Tragedies:”

I chime in with ‘Haven’t you people ever heard of
Closing the goddamn door?’
No, it’s much better to face these kinds of things
With a sense of poise and rationality

s. “So I’m kind of impressed by that. I’m curious to see who it is.”

And people generally understood the lyrics of “Nine In The Afternoon” to be about partying:

Cause it’s nine in the afternoon
And your eyes are the size of the moon
You could cause you can so you do
We’re feeling so good
Just the way that we do
When it’s nine in the afternoon

Even though every person had a different take on the lyrics (and later the music), they all agreed that the words were poetic. Poetry, people!

Though they all said they had no idea who had written these lyrics. And when the people found out who the band was — some knew the name, others had never heard of them — they were also surprised that they had recorded their first demo while in high school.

“I think the fact that they did this in high school must encourage so many young people who have dreams,” one person said. “It must make them feel good that you can start at a very young age and still be successful.”

The whole experience made some of them fans of Panic! At The Disco. “It’s exactly what I like in music,” one person said. “Now I’m going to have to go and listen to all of their stuff!” One curious woman actually compared the tunes she heard to Sgt. Pepper’s…

Goes to show you that the evolution of your music taste, despite research proof, does not die at age 33*.

*It dies when you find merit in Panic! At The Disco lyrics.
