Hey, I just met you
And this is crazy
But here’s my number
So call me maybe

And here we thought calling noob dates was a thing of pre-text past. To Carly Rae Jepsen‘s credit, though, she’s on the older side of the teen pop elite (26). So it’s certainly plausible that Jepsen did – and still does – sling her digits in lip-service “call me” fashion on this breakout tune that Justin Bieber and Selina Gomez tweeted upon the Billboard Hot 100 mantle back in January, immediately scoring Canadian import Jepsen a record deal with Scooter Braun’s Schoolboy Records, and 65 million YouTube hits and counting.

Maybe the Biebs tweeted his love for the tune because he simply wanted to be on the receiving “crazy” end of Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” yearn. The world of pop will never know. What it does forever know, however, is that “ripped jeans” on a “hot night” will never be pre anything. Except leading up to you know what. And Jepsen’s bubblicious Katy Perry-isms tugged along by just a wee bit of synth-string, neo-disco “skin was showing” edge will repeatedly tease the infectious fix in the interim. “Maybe.” Depends on how long you wait to call.

Meanwhile, Jepsen’s flirtations have incited a moment here, with all sorts of cover videos going viral, should you want to see how “crazy” infatuated the rest of the world is in real time. Not nearly as much skin as the original, though:
