creedence

Marred by one of the most infamous sibling rock rivalries, John and Tom Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival just couldn’t stop the fussin’ and feudin’, ultimately ending with the departure of Tom during the Pendulum sessions in 1971.

John’s ‘democratic‘ approach thus forward, in which John decreed he would only contribute rhythm guitar on his remaining bandmates’ songs is the kind of WTF moment that begat one of the worst albums in rock, Mardi Gras, and rightly cut the lifeline on any remaining creative spirit in the original inception of the band.

Though we’ll always have Pendulum‘s timeless single “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” spotted with metaphorical tensions that shrouds all that bullshit in the name of sweet swamp rock and art:

Someone told me long ago, there’s a calm before the storm

I know, it’s been com in’ for some time

When it’s over, so they say, it’ll rain a sunny day

I know, shin in’ down like water

I wanna know have you ever seen the rain?

I wanna know have you ever seen the rain?

Comin’ down on a sunny day?
