Jeff Sampson got his start in the late 1970's playing solo acoustic fingerstyle guitar in the style of Leo Kottke & John Renbourn, caught the blues bug and plugged in after a move to the West Coast, going on to be influenced by players as diverse as Jerry Garcia, J.J. Cale, Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bill Frisell, and Ryan Adams, among many others. He is a prolific songwriter and has absorbed an incredibly wide variety of musical styles, from classical to reggae and is known for soulful delivery, witty lyrics and a quirky, humorous perspective. He resides in the mountains of Vermont, playing both solo and with the trio Nice Marmot, with Claybrook Griffith on drums and Glenn Goodwin on bass. Nice Marmot plays mostly Jeff's originals, select out-of-the-ordinary covers, and a wide variety of styles from straight blues groove to experimental jam.
