this song makes me think of my xgirlfriend...and how we fucked up our 14 year relationship...and now all I can do is imagine some psychological space where she is singing this back to me and I am hugging her tightly...and we could be together with no fear, or resentment...and trust.

wow, just got shivers reading this for the first time. the xx make all of their lyrics so believable and real. i love how they're portrayed in such a dead and hopeless manner. anyone who's been hurt by love is reached in this album, and the redundancy of phrases just makes it hit you even harder.
