Is it not possible that we are all put here innocent. We make mistakes (sins) from a lack of understanding this world before us. We allow ourselves to give in to greed & lust to mention a few, and then we allow ourselves to be a part of crime, rape, pedophile acts, self mutilation, arson and a mass of other things that we do out of anger and frustration. We are put here innocent, remember that. As we fall victim too these weaknesses, these evils of, become more convinced that THIS is the only way, this is the only "life" and we begin to give up on ourselves. IE: we stop protecting that nerd in school, because others start to pick on us for it. OR we stop showing a boy or girl attention because other people are passing judgement on him or her. WE ALLOW OURSLEVES TO GIVE IN TO HATE, JUDGEMENT... SINS. Due to this, we are constantly brought to a new place in life, we are perhaps reborn, numerous times, each time (due to sin) we hide further within ourselves, afraid to stand up to the bullies. Afraid to admit our mistakes because we know we did wrong. We eventually end up sinking lower and lower into our own personal hell as we live each life. Not allowing ourselves to accept and make right for these wrongs we have done to others and ourselves.
Is it too much to think outside the box, understand that this world could very well be a holographic world, a room of spirits we are brought into in a whole different place where we must battle our own sins, our demons, until we can accept them? we live in fear of these demons, allow them to threaten us and if we eventually fall so deep we can not and damn near do not know how to get back up, we reach for a bible, answers, something that we can find peace in... but it does not always work this way. because these demons just want to keep pulling us back in... the only answer to finding god is in finding peace among ourselves, peace in our hearts, FORGIVENESS for those that have tress-passed against us.
Imagine one day, while you stood in shock having just watched your son or daughter being hit by a vehicle. Or letting go of their hand while they slowly lay dying on a hospital bed from cancer...If he put his hand on your shoulder and said "Do not worry, watch this" as he stepped aside and slowly your child or friend, etc was brought back to life and perfect health... WOULD YOU SECOND GUESS the right thing to do if someone was standing in front of you with a gun? would you fear them? If you walked around the corner to see a man beating on a woman, would you stop him? or be afraid of him attacking you? .... If you KNEW without a doubt that there is a god above that could and would always bring you back into the light, give you protection from the demons of the dark... Would you back down and stop talking to that "nerd" or stop liking that boy or girl because he or she was seen "picking his/her nose"?
I think to me THAT is what this song represents. That god is out there, bringing the light to our heart, the ability to love and forgive... constantly re lighting our fires and giving us the chance to let our love for one another SHINE.
We are all Hells angels. Its only a matter of time before we become consumed by the anger and hurt. the hatred, the jealousy and other sins... it is only a short time before we decide to allow our neighbor the ability to let his opinion on imagrants or sandniggers or her opinion on fat chicks become OUR opinions. It is the LACK of SPEAKING UP and taking your part in sharing this love you KNOW in your heart is RIGHT.
Think about it. selfishness, greed, hatred... LIES... these things keep us here, and apart from god, and his place of "heaven" or atleast that is the only answers i have come to find on my own. this is the beggingin of my define of life's experiences. and i hope that you will join me and share your own views on my website. Since i do not wnat to use this site to "plug" my site... I will only say "catch me online" google it or whatever... and eventually you will find my website.
God bless :)

Song meaning
In an interview, Isaac Slade expressed his meaning behind the lyrics of the song:
“You Found Me is a tough song for me.It started from just a song with a lot of hate towards God. More of questions, "why" It's about the disappointment, the heartache, the let down that comes with life. Sometimes you’re let down, sometimes you’re the one who lets someone else down. It gets hard to know who you can trust, who you can count on. This song came out of a tough time, and I’m still right in the thick of it. There’s some difficult circumstances my family and friends have been going through over the past year or so and can be overwhelming. It wears on me. It demands so much of my faith to keep believing, keep hoping in the unseen. Sometimes the tunnel has a light at the end, but usually they just look black as night. This song is about that feeling, and the hope that I still have, buried deep in my chest.”[5]
In another interview Isaac Slade declared that:
"I kept getting these phone calls from home - tragedy after tragedy... If there is some kind of person in charge of this planet - are they sleeping? Smoking? Where are they? I just imagined running into God standing on a street corner like Bruce Springsteen, smoking a cigarette, and I'd have it out with him."[6]
Furthermore, in a Reuters article about the album, Slade says that the lyrics for "You Found Me" were written two and a half years ago, and that the song asks about the problem of evil, why bad things happen to good people, after some of their friends and family went through very tough times.[7]

Many of you said that this song is very hard to understand. But how difficult can be understanding feelings? Well, i like a boy. Unfortunatelly he is the most wrong, immature boy-not the first time i like a boy like this!So i love this song... For one more time i need Him,i'm "lost and insecure" and He is not here! One year ago my grandfather died... Where were He when needed His help? This feeling is terrible, but after a while you can understand that He is always here and suffering doesn't let you to see Him! However, i think that everyone has felt this feeling...:heartache! This is how i feel; and this is what i want to tell Him:i need You,please help me...

I am a believer in God, but I think the word God in this song means someone important in his life. Like maybe a father that has never really been in his life. When the song says "losing her" I think it might be his mom and now he feels alone (lying on the floor, meaning broken)but yet surrounded by family. His dad then comes back at that moment in his life. Then he tells his dad "Where have you been my whole life? And you choose now to come back!"
Where were you
When everything was falling apart?
All my days
Were spent by the telephone
It never rang
And all I needed was a call
It never came
To the corner of First and Amistad (This is where he lived)

I think watching the music video definitely highlights the direction they're going in with respect to the music video. I don't feel it's inappropriate or disrespectful, but rather just reflects the natural emotions and helplessness that people undergo when confronting a tragedy. We're not necessarily hoping to find a scapegoat for our problems, but when faced with tough times, we express our frustrations, which is completely natural. I think this song and the music video reflect the natural, instinctual responses that we experience when we face tragedy and injustices.
Also, while I agree that people do control their own destinies, I feel it is only to a certain extent. Think about innocent lives taken away by the minute due to social and political injustices that they have no control over. How is their misfortune the result of karma if they are born into such a time? Of course for those who believe in a religious figure, yes God is there, however, while we control our destinies in one sense, we can't control the opportunities, misfortunes, and good or bad luck that affect us. For instance, we can't choose who our parents are, the existing structures and norms that exist when we enter this world, etc. And in this desperation of having such lack of control, we become frustrated and ask why? Why couldn't we have been spared from this tragedy and from our misfortunes? This song reflects those emotions very melodiously.

I was with my ex husband for 10 yrs..he possibly could be bi-polar, I never knew..instead I enabled and made excuses for his violent behavior. I was the only one who he could put on a pedalstal and in the next moment make me feel lower than dirt. Once again, I enabled this behavior. Things got worse and abusive. He cheated nonstop. I got sick of it, he left me for another women. Then there was another woman after that. I finally divorced him and got a restraining order. He still tries to send me messages. No longer threatens me, instead dedicates this song...this song hurts me...because I am on the other end of it. He is singing to me, which makes me feel like he still has excuses for his behavior. I am the only one that understood him or enabled him? I am not judging the writer of this song, but can't help to hear someone pathetic singing the lyrics who only makes excuses for their behavior. They end up alone because of karma, because of the choices they made through out life...God is ALWAYS available to rely on - if you can't step up to the plate and be responsible enough to understand that, then the only one to blame is you - yourself...Where were you? Makes me sad, because sometimes you have EVERYTHING and more right in front of you, and you MAKE THE choice to mistreat it, then you ask God Why? oh Why poor me? Yes, we are all given these lives we lead, but it is not about the cards we are dealt, it is how we decide to play them. Maybe I am out of line with my opinions of the lyrics, but this is where ,my personal expierence has led me...

Isn't it so obvious, In life u can never be satisfied. Life is upsides and down sides, He dosen't realise this before it's to late. He realises this when the rollecoaster ends "Death".that is to late :D my personal thoughts
Comment by Anonymous
I think something completely different, i think that he had no reason to live, and when he had just a tiny bit of hope, that SHE would call him and the telephone would ring, god wasn't there to help him. He was completly alone, she abandoned her, and the world just wasnt there for him, and god came late, when he had no hopes at all.. When he was "lyin on the floor, he found him, lost and insecure, where was he?" But then, you can find a completely different meaning, i mean it has much more than this stupid lonelyness and depression, its meaning life. Life is like that, you dont always get what you want, you get it late or you just dont get it, and when you least expect it, you found it, or that found you. But anyway, thats just my opinion. The thing i love most about this song, is that it's deep and everyone has it's own point of view.. And it's not just the stupid boy or girl who loves someone that loves another person, but it's something way more beyond that.. Feel free to agree or disagree, i would love to hear more opinions! :)

It almost seems that it can be interpreted to be the subject committing suicide(not looking At the vid cause iv neve actually watched it but hear bout it). For one jensays tht he was waiting for a call which could possibly mean that he was waiting for someone to give him a reason to live. It also say that the subject was lying on the floor which could mean he was dead. Then the subject also says they were surrounded and that they were foun to late which means thy could've died in public perhaps running into traffic or such and there was a crowd around which then he is found, bit found to late. This could also say why he "found god" as death is believed to be a way to find 'god'.
These are simply my opinions so feel free to agree or disagree. It's an amzibg song though and I love it. I also am not at all religous and disagree with the ideas that it is a religous song though I do no critasize those who have that opinion. This is also what it means to me from personal experience.

My thoughts
I found God
- This first verse is the only time in the song the subject states he “found God.” Every other reference is to God finding him — including the title.
On the corner of First and Amistad
- This meeting occurs at a crossroads in life. First Street possibly being a reference to the number 1, or self (me first); and, Amistad being friendship, or a friend—someone of the world.
Where the west, Was all but won
- Winning of the west entailed adventure, losses, victories, the passage of time, and the defining of an era
All alone, Smoking his last cigarette
- God was by himself, not distracted, just focused on the subject. Smoking a last cigarette would imply he had been there for sometime—the rest of the pack was gone. Smoking can be a means of passing time, or fighting boredom.
I said, "Where you been?" He said, "Ask anything".
- The subject asks God where he had been, and God invites him to ask freely. God is guiltless, and no reason to withhold.
Where were you, when everything was falling apart? All my days, were spent by the telephone
It never rang, and all I needed was a call.
- This verse describes the subject waiting of a call, but not receiving one; however, he doesn’t mention taking the initiative to call. It was all about his convenience.
It never came, to the corner of First and Amistad
- This could imply that the call never came to that specific location – that point in life—but not that there was never a call. Sometimes God’s answer is no answer at all; or, perhaps God was making a call, but the subject was so focused “Winning the West” at 1st and Amistad that he didn’t hear it.
Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
- Although we don’t know what God’s response to the series of questions, the subject never again declares he found God – rather that God found him. To find something requires someone to look. Perhaps the subject realizes he was never truly seeking God; but he wanted God to come to the subject at the subject’s convenience
Lyin' on the floor, surrounded, surrounded. Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
- The pain the subject has experienced is unquestionable, and he is truly broken before God; but, was God waiting, or was the subject simply not ready to receive him until he was completely broken? Did the subject really want God, or just God’s help his sustaining his worldly desires prior to the point of acceptance.
Just a little late, you found me, you found me
- Perhaps what seemed too late for the subject, was just the right time for God; or, this first time the subject waswilling to receive him.
In the end, everyone ends up alone
- Everyone will end up alone in the end—standing before God. The more faith we place in the people of this world, the more be crushing their inability to sustain our needs will be.
Losing her, the only one who's ever known, who I am, who I'm not, who I wanna be
- Why was she the only who knew these things? He fails to consider what God knew. Had the subject put his faith and relationship with her over his faith and relationship with God? Was this why God had to wait for this moment, because she was the one thing that separated the subject from God?
No way to know, how long she will be next to me
- No one knows how long the people in our lives will be with us. It’s an unrealistic expectation.
Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me. Lyin' on the floor, surrounded, surrounded. Why'd you have to wait?
- Continued questions through imperfect eyes
Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late, You found me, you found me
- Perhaps “just a little late” for the subject, was actually at the very first opportunity God had, and at just the right time.
Early morning. The city breaks.
- In the morning is an awakening, and despite the feeling of grief, life in the city, at that very intersection, continues.
I've been callin' for years and years and years and years and you never left me no messages
- Despite God’s presence, the subject still looks back in retrospect at the pain he has suffered through his separation from God.
I've been callin', for years and years and years and years, and you never left me no messages. Ya never send me no letters. You got some kinda nerve. Taking all my world
- More reflection on at the pain he has suffered through, through his own imperfect eyes, and questions why God would take away his world – failing to accept that this is God’s world – not his own.
Lost and insecure, You found me, you found me
Lyin' on the floor, Where were you? Where were you?
Lost and insecure, You found me, you found me. Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded. Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late, You found me, you found me. Why'd you have to wait? To find me, to find me
- -We see the world though our own imperfect eyes. We think that it is the Master’s purpose to please us. We put all of our faith into the things of this world, ignoring the fact that everything of this world will turn to dust, and eventually we will all stand alone in front of a God with a perfect plan. Unfortunately, most of us will not see the truth until we are completely broken, having lost all hope in ourselves and the things of this world, and have no one and nothing in which to trust, but God whose greatness is beyond our comprehension, and only receivable through faith in him. God is not intrusive, he will not force his way into our lives, but he is always waiting for the exact moment when we are prepared to receive him.

I think that the poem "Footprints" kinda relates to this song
even when you think that God isn't with you, he really is... he's actually the one carrying you and it just took you a long time to realise this... thats what it came across to me as

this song is really hard to understand....its full of meaning...but how u can find out the real meaning is real tough!but as many of u guys said god is always there for u .... its u who don't recognize god when ur happy & life's perfect ...but when u experience hard sad days ...when you've lost everyone ...that's when u feel the existence of the one(god) who's been watching out for u all these years...too bad u were the one who forgot him!

some of the best work written was when the words spoeke differrently to different people depending on their own life experiences, this is a perfect eg. i feel its bout all tragedy's of life and bout change and wanting to change but not sure how to go about doing it.
Either way its a beautiful song and enjoy it bring whatever meaning it does - i feel its more imp about how i feel after hearing then what maybe the grp initially intended.
