Brilliant as Temper Trap's song is, hearing it always makes me think of Martin who sang it on Autistic Superstars. Martin is severely autistic but seems free of all that, appears to lose all his anxieties and behaviours when he's singing this beautiful song which he quite obviously loves to do. It brings me back the first person, and only person, I fell for.
I can never stop thinking about that certain person when this song is played, it's like we were meant to be.

I'm going with the former; it seems to have a theme of comparing/contrasting and 'a dream aloud/allowed' doesn't fit the rest of the lyric, in my humble opinion.

This song was also featured on the TV series GREEK. The song was played on Chapter 4 Episode End of the World.

if my life had a soundtrack this would be one of the songs on it. Its kinda like the song that I came out to my parents with realising that I would never be happy one way or the other I just had to do it. Its like memories of highschool almost getting caught smoking at the back of the boys toilets and running like hell while holding onto your bestfriends hand tightly or that time you make eye contact with someone and you realise the one your with isnt the one you were meant to be with all along. but most of all its the way the song begins that its like your whole world is tearing apart before your very eyes and you think "Fuck this"and you leap into it with all that you have accepting everything just to be true to the one person that matters the most and thats you. you only live once so be adventurous every now and then

this song is woven into my story. i was seventeen when we first met and completely dilusional of love or anything close to it. he showed me that everything happens for a reason. nothing happens by chance, rather by fate. everything has its exact moment where things play out to a certain rhythm. and our rhythms coincided perfectly. then i was force to leave due to our current economy and i was lead to believe that what we had first started that summer had faded. fast forward three years and he has showed me that 500 miles wont stop him from loving me and his faith in us is what keeps me strong. two more years and we will have the opportunity to be together again..........every time he gives me butterflies i hear this song as if it was so eloquently created for us.

When I first heard this song I thought it sounded like Bronski Beat Small Town Boy. Love the vocals, the simple lyrics, the guitar riff then the drums coming in at the beginning.

I recently had to deliver my stillborn son. In the delivery suite we had the radio playing and this song came on. For a long time I couldn't listen to this song as it evoked to many memories. However, recently I've listened to it a lot and I can now really relate those words to those precious few hours I had with my sleeping angel!

I think the lyrics are about how a moment is all that is needed to change, like one minute you could be laughing and then the next you could be crying because time is short you need to act and the things you want to when your young, because all to soon your older and look back and think - why didn't i do that then?
