Taking Back Sunday - Sink Into Me Lyrics

Artist: Taking Back Sunday

Album: New Again

  • Songwriters: Adam Burbank Lazzara, Frederick Pau Mascherino, Mark O'connell, Edward Reyes, Matthew A Rubano

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey

Come on, tell me that you're better
And you rather just forget that things have gone so far
Yeah, tell me that you're better
And you'd rather just forget that things have gone too far

You're all I see, sink into me
Sharpen your teeth, sink into me
Sink into me
(Sink in, sink in)

I'd like to see our roles reversed
To watch you hang on every word
I'd like to see you have your way
I keep my grammar well rehearsed
Correct each stutter, every slur
Come on and have your way with me

Now tell me that you're better
And you rather just forget that things have gone so far
You tell me that you're better
And you'd rather just forget that, yeah things have gone too far

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey

You're all I see, sink into me
Sharpen your teeth, sink into me
Sink into me
(Sink in, sink in)

Well, I'd like to see our roles reversed
To watch you hang on every word
I'd like to see you have your way
I keep my grammar well rehearsed
Correct each stutter, every slur
Come on and have your way with me
Come on and have your way with me

I'd like to be a note, the kind you could sing
But don't because you're shy
That way I'll live inside your throat
And hang from every word you spoke

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey

You're all I see, sink into me
Sharpen your teeth, sink into me
Sink into me
(Sink in, sink in)

I'd like to see you have your way
Come on, have your way with me
(Aim for every word you spoke)
I'd like to see you have your way
(Correct each stutter, every slur)
Come on, have your way with me
(Sink into me)

What does this song mean to you?

  • Anonymous

I think this song is about Chauntelle.
The line "I'd like to be a note, the kind you could sing but don't because you're shy" is referring to how she stopped singing in Eisley because she lost her confidence.

Actually I think "Sharpen your teeth, sink into me" is a metaphor where Adam is comparing "her" to a vampire. The way he dances on strings like a puppet and how "she" drains him.

i reckon he just wants the roles reversed because he feels like sh&#039t because of the way the other is treating him

This song put my life back on track. I think it is about some guy who was walking in the desert then he stepped in some quick sand or something but then he got out and wrote a song. So yeah , it's got a good story behind it I reckon.

It's not necessarily about a relationship. Could be coming from a student to a teacher, an employee to a boss, a child to a parent, or a crushee to a crush. It's about someone that you would do anything to impress, and wishing that they knew how hard you tried, and that they would either let you relax or show you the same respect.

I love this song! In relationships it is awesome when you know that the other person feels the same about you. I think that is what this song is about. He wants her to take control and show him how she feels. He knows his own worth and that he tries to better himself (keeps his grammar well rehearsed!)
