Well, I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
Well, it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Baby, I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you

Obviously a song about an unfaithful husband. This song seems to refer to the story of King David and Bathsheba, which is found in the Bible in 2Samuel:Chapter 11&12. Not sure about the verse about "cutting your hair" ? maybe the song writer was likening David's loss of integrity to the story of Sampson and Delilah, which is also from the Bible, found in Judges Chapter 16. However, in the last verse the lyrics seem unfinished. That said, It is a very haunting melody and I love the "angelic" choir.
