SEARCH TIPS
Tips for searching at songlyrics.com
- IMPORTANT: when searching in lyric text think of specific words in the song. Type words from the song that are rarely used in other songs. This will lead to faster and more exact search results. For example, use
'placebo crawling dawning' (2.5 seconds to search, 1 result returned)
instead of
'a friend in need' (6.8 seconds to search, 126 results returned)
- Be patient waiting for search results to appear, do not hit reload button. Hitting reload button leads to higher server load and slower search results.
- Type the name of album, song and/or artist, song lyrics text.
- Check appropriate boxes.
- Do not use brackets or quotes to restrict search. Do not use minuses or pluses before a word in search. This won't work.
EXAMPLE: we need to find Michael Jackson's Thriller lyric.
SOLUTION:
- type 'michael jackson thriller' in the white box,
- check 'song' and 'author' boxes,
- uncheck 'album' and 'lyrics' boxes (to prevent showing undesired songs)
- and click 'go' button

Tips for searching at search engines
>>>I don't know who the artist is
You can still find the lyrics, but you will have to do a little different search.
- Choose a line or a phrase from the song, that is unique and characteristic for this song.
What does that mean?
For example, let's say all you remember from the song is these two lines:
Love, love me do
You know I love you
Then you would rather choose the phrase "love, love me do", since the phrase
"you know I love you" is much more commonly used, and more likely to be found in many other texts.
- Now, type your phrase into the search box, and enclose it in quotation marks.
So in our case you would type in exactly this:
"love, love me do"

NOTE: If you do not find any useful information the first time,
you might want to try again. Hints that might improve your search:
- use a different phrase
- try a slightly different spelling: for example, instead of "I'll", try "I will", etc.
- skip punctuation marks
I know the title, but I don't remember the artist
Type in the title enclosed in quotation marks, and the word "lyrics", also in quotation marks.
Remember, that there might be more than one song with the same title, so you might have to look
through the whole list of results to find the one you are searching for.
