Rob Thomas - Her Diamonds Lyrics

Cool song...My friend is going through something at the moment. Long story short, she recently told me that she loves me, but I've only seen her as a friend (being a girl myself) Since then she's completley shut down. I try to get her to talk, open up, but she keeps shutting me out. This song I think portrays two sides to every feeling.

I have LONG admired Rob Thomas back to when he was lead singer for Matchbox 20 and then fell head over heels with SMOOTH (done with Carlos Santana). I SO enjoyed how he would always set the stage for his songs prior to singing them on some of his videos. Wonderful stories behind many of his songs!

"Her Diamonds" was, indeed, written for his wife who suffers with an autoimmune disease. I happened to catch him on the Today Show one morning several months ago where he explained how the song came about and also how much his wife helps in his songwriting! They are an AWESOME team and I wish them the best always!

I, too, live with an autoimmune disease and SO understand the helplessness that a man feels when his partner is suffering with chronic pain. Men are fixers and when they do not have the ability to fix, they feel helpless and it TRULY blesses me to see Rob with such a HUGE heart of compassion towards not only his wife, but others suffering as well. His TRUE character SHINES through!

this song touches me deeply. i have a girlfriend who has been suffering from a fatal cancer in which doctors can no longer do anything about. we sit day in and day out practically praying that this day isn't the last. And everytime she cries it hurts so much. i feel that pain of helplessness as well and i guess that comes only from caring so much. i'm glad to hear comfort from this song, knowing that i'm not alone in this and that others understand as well. it seems all around me people don't understand and it pisses me off, all the things they say and the way they act. this song is amazing

I also have an autoimmune disorder called dermatomyositis. It changes you even though you try not to let it! Thank you Rob Thomas for coming out with a great song!! WE love you in the deep south!!

This song is beautiful. I have IC and when this song came out I was in the middle of having a flare. All my husband did was hold my hand and tell me it would be ok. This song covers both the Disease and the depression that often accompanies it.

This song could be about Rob's Mum.He confessed once in an interview that 3am was about her when she had cancer.Maybe 'her diamonds' is another expression of those sentiments?

I just fell in love with this song and had to share with my dear husband.,. I suffer with Fibro and there are many many nights I am up. and the tears fall.living with pain day in and day out it truly is hard for the person living it and there honey. Bless you for supporting your Wife through this.there are lots of symptoms we have in common.

Well, I should have read my comment before clicking since I spelled wrong plus I meant that Howie of Backstreet Boys sister died from Lupus also. It's a horrible illness. I have a wonderful husband that expects nothing from me. Just wants me to be comfortable. I am thankful for that.

yes, I recently discovered he wrote this song for this wife - I too suffer from a mild auto-immune disorder..to have this much empathy and compassion for someone speaks volumes.. does he have a brother??? Looking forward to seeing him in concert next month!

wen i found out bout the meanin behind this song it hit home.. i have systemic lupus eyrthmatosis (SLE) it makes me live life tough some days and others where i cant get outta bed.. i find this song moving and the fact he wrote it for his wife is even more special!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, these conditions don't really kill you but they make living each day hard...Rob Thomas is inspiration for all the partners out there! Love is a wonderful thing when you have one of these conditions, there is nothing more comforting than understandding ans someone just being there!

Wonderful song! I have lupus and there are some days when this song hits home more than others. I love that he expressed how the loved one of someone with a chronic illness/autoimmune disease feels. I am pretty sure my own husband sometimes cries too, it is a hard thing to deal with day in and day out.

I can so realate to this song, I have epidermal bullosa eb for short and some days i feel just like the girl in this song, cause the fact that its not curable really gets to me.

I suffer from MCTD (for me it is a combination of severe Rheumatoid arthritis, Polymyositis and Lupus with several other associated illnesses.) Being so ill every day is hard. This song really expresses so much emotion. It is great, but isn't that what we have come to expect from Rob Thomas? My love to all my fellow AUTOIMMUNE ANGELS.

I guess I understand why you would think the song is depressing, but if you have one of these painful, lifelong illnesses (I have Lupus) then you understand that it's a cycle of winning and losing. That's why it says "she'll be alright, just not tonight." It doesn't mean she's given up and isn't a fighter, it just means she's lost the battle for that day.

I agree- his love for his wife is so evident in the song-- I think a lot of spouses probably will relate to this song too, because it reveals his helplessness and I know that's something my husband struggles with.

She has an autoimmune disease. As a fellow sufferer (mixed connective tissue) I really could relate to this song - he's a genius. His love for his wife is so apparent in the lyrics.

Om my gosh, everyone says this song is soooo beautiful. I love Rob Thomas, but it seems he has written this song about a girl who is very sad, and depressed. A victim if you will thus the line I just can't win for losing. I'm sorry but I'm a fighter, and this song is quite depressing to me.
