This song could be about Rob's Mum.He confessed once in an interview that 3am was about her when she had cancer.Maybe 'her diamonds' is another expression of those sentiments?

I just fell in love with this song and had to share with my dear husband.,. I suffer with Fibro and there are many many nights I am up. and the tears fall.living with pain day in and day out it truly is hard for the person living it and there honey. Bless you for supporting your Wife through this.there are lots of symptoms we have in common.

Well, I should have read my comment before clicking since I spelled wrong plus I meant that Howie of Backstreet Boys sister died from Lupus also. It's a horrible illness. I have a wonderful husband that expects nothing from me. Just wants me to be comfortable. I am thankful for that.

I am Systemic Lupus and 20 other illnesses caused by Lupus plus a mass on adrenal glands and behind thyroid but too sick to be operated on. Lupus is horrible. It crippled me, only time I am pain free is when I get the few hours of sleep I can. It does kill. Not everyone but my sister in law lost her sister to it and the woman the Beatles wrote about in Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds died just last week from complications from Lupus. Howie of the Backstreet Boys died of it , Charled Kuralt died from it. Yes it does kill people but it also tortues you endlessly.

yes, I recently discovered he wrote this song for this wife - I too suffer from a mild auto-immune disorder..to have this much empathy and compassion for someone speaks volumes.. does he have a brother??? Looking forward to seeing him in concert next month!

wen i found out bout the meanin behind this song it hit home.. i have systemic lupus eyrthmatosis (SLE) it makes me live life tough some days and others where i cant get outta bed.. i find this song moving and the fact he wrote it for his wife is even more special!

i watched idol and whoever sang it really angered me he was singing it like smiling happy like he had no idea of the interepration at all , idol judges did not point this out to0 him at all ... rob thomas you are my favorite ...... leonie

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, these conditions don't really kill you but they make living each day hard...Rob Thomas is inspiration for all the partners out there! Love is a wonderful thing when you have one of these conditions, there is nothing more comforting than understandding ans someone just being there!

Wonderful song! I have lupus and there are some days when this song hits home more than others. I love that he expressed how the loved one of someone with a chronic illness/autoimmune disease feels. I am pretty sure my own husband sometimes cries too, it is a hard thing to deal with day in and day out.

I love this song. I was shopping with one of my best friends in Hollister. We went in the store 2 different times, and we heard it both times. It got stuck in my head, and I just HAD to get it on my ipod. It's definitely a top 5 of mine, because its so catchy, but also deep.

I suffer from MCTD (for me it is a combination of severe Rheumatoid arthritis, Polymyositis and Lupus with several other associated illnesses.) Being so ill every day is hard. This song really expresses so much emotion. It is great, but isn't that what we have come to expect from Rob Thomas? My love to all my fellow AUTOIMMUNE ANGELS.

This song reminds me of my girlfriend with cf. Wow rob thomas, wow. I never cry but I felt a tear comin on after this song. Damn good song, I felt like I was back in the 90's.
