  i always thought the song was about 3 things urban expansion filling the skyline with crap, acid rain and nuclear war. But hey what do I know that's why I checked out this site in the 1st place. REM lyrics never quite make sense and often aren't audible. didn't skylab fall from the sky in the late 70's
