Peter Allen - I Still Call Australia Home Lyrics

Artist: Peter Allen

Album: Miscellaneous

  • Songwriters: Peter Woolnough Allen

I've been to cities that never close down
From New York to Rio and old London town
But no matter how far or how wide I roam
I still call Australia home

I'm always traveling, I love being free
And so I keep leaving the sun and the sea
But my heart lies waiting over the foam
I still call Australia home

All the sons and daughters spinning 'round the world
Away from their family and friends
But as the world gets older and colder
It's good to know where your journey ends

And someday we'll all be together once more
When all of the ships come back to the shore
I'll realize something I've always known
I still call Australia home

But no matter how far or wide I roam
I still call Australia, I still call Australia, I still call Australia home
But no matter how far or wide I roam
I still call Australia, I still call Australia, I still call Australia home

I love this song, it should definetly be our anthem.

If your going to insult the people who are so proud of this song and of australia don't read the comments!

It's not where you're born but where your heart is that made this song relevant. (as someone here already said -by choice, if not by birth) I wasn't born in this country but I'm immensly pround to call this country home and of course an Austraian. I travel extensively too, so to hear this song plays wherever you are in the world... stir such an emotion and I guess many countries in the world would envy such a beautiful music/song being written such as this about their countries. I'm sure they have but this song is more about how Aussies like to travel the world but Aust still where your heart stay. Thanks Peter.

This song is amazing, really touching. I love it.
I'm a Canadian living in Europe, but I hope to live in Australia some day (hopefully Melbourne!). I've got Aussie relatives from Perth, and I have to say, they're the only interesting people in my entire family... =P
Australians are the best people, and Australia is the greatest country.

I was an oversea-student from Germany who studied in Australia at Bond for four (intensive) months. I love this song and support the idea to let it become the official national anthem. It pictures the Australian soul and fate. Has anyone a tissue left?

I am not Aussie, I am from Poland, but in next a few years I am going to move there. I love their culture, style of life and beauty of the continent... I would like to tell for all Australians that I would like to be as you are... Best wishes for all Australians from Poland which love you so muuuuch!

I have been living and working in London for over a year now. I thought the song was quite special when I was living at home in OZ, but now the effects of it have magnified. When I am feeling a little homesick, I listen to this fabulous bit of music and it brings a tear to my eye. Sometimes it takes absence to make the heart grow fonder. I am very proud to be Australian and we are very fortunate to have a song composed that reminds us of home....
    "Mum I'm coming home soon"..
