M.I.A. rides a giant Neverending Story swan over strobing messages of chill, Bowling For Soup take the oft popular B-roll route with a pseudo punk mantra, Major Lazer returns with his Ferry Gouw animated geniusry and more, in week 36 of the year’s best lyric videos Miley Cyrus cannot be found twerking in.

M.I.A. – ‘Come Walk With Me

Pushing her latest LP, Matangi, due November 5, comes this phantasmal Indian animation to back M.I.A.’s cockney side, in which Neverending Story Falkor-sized swans fly over Paris and flesh eating tiger men preside over a big letter block message from M.I.A. essentially saying it’s okay to chill sometimes. But don’t fret, she’s still “fux” with you at the end:

You ain’t gotta shake it
Just be with me
You ain’t gotta throw your hands in the air
’Cause tonight we ain’t acting like we don’t care

Skindred – ‘Ninja

As all over this place as this mish-mosh, Bad Brains-aping metal-reggae train wreck this is from Newport, Wales, claiming themselves educating ninjas in the name of ending oppression, they do preach a positive message and this video is made to be injected into your eyeballs the way of addiction, and does a good job of spelling out the vitriol:

I remember when tings was very different
Man dem was a never so violent
Nowadays dem cut you throat fe keep ya silent
Dem ah dark angel that work for satan

Bowling For Soup – ‘From the Rooftops

The backwash of the era in which pop-punk sets appended numbers to their names (Blink-182, Sum 41) in order to differentiate themselves, Bowling For Soup are finally starting to get acerbic in their fading age, albeit with a now very, very tired B-roll of some forgotten post-war television footage, but hey – “follow your heart/fuck everybody else:”

Have you ever been so in love
You want to shout it from the rooftops
Follow your heart
Fuck everybody else

Showtek (feat. We Are Loud & Sonny Wilson) – ‘Booyah

The most panty-dropping bass of a PSA you’ll hear in 2013 preaching the spread of good vibes, not guns at the club, this video is like a tripped out lava lamp constructed by D.A.R.E., edited by recovering addicts, complete with silhouettes of break-dancers and exploding TVs:

Yes all we care about is dem party keepin’ dem good vibes, good vibes in the air now
Keepin’ dem guns
I put that rock in your body now bounce all night
Keep dem guns outta the club
Dey killing dis vibe

Major Lazer (feat. Ezra Koenig) – ‘Jessica

Another bump to promote Free The Universe, Major Lazer’s always a slicker machine with these comedown numbers, here splayed with the wordplay of Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig, in homage to a lovely girl named ‘Jessica’, and like all the dope Lazer vids, comes directed with a parellelled animation by Ferry Gouw, recurring revolutionary protagonist in a dream scene of sorts, lyrics punched in appropriately like subtitles:

Cuz all I want is my Jessica
Me Jessica
Me necesita cuanta ti Jessica
Mein jessikaner jahtzenheimer hessika
Mein Jessica
