A reminder that the economy is so the very least of our problems – Russia, the damn country, is suing Madonna for allegedly promoting gay rights to minors. London’s The Times is reporting the “Material Girl” was the subject of a pre-trial hearing in a St. Petersburg court yesterday that decided Madonna’s action of handing out pink bracelets at a gig in said city last August is sufficient evidence to sue the pop star for over $10 million, citing a law passed earlier this year – EALIER THIS YEAR – that bans “propaganda of sodomy, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgenderism” that could rightly “damage the health, moral and spiritual development of the under aged.” Of course we knew Putin and his Iron Fist loves to just stick it to progression, and any art worth opening a mind. Meanwhile Madonna didn’t show for the trial. So here’s to that, with a cheesy 80s love “Boderline” metaphor to protest gigs in Russia already. Or at least St. Petersburg:
Something in the way you love me won’t let me be
I don’t want to be your prisoner so baby won’t you set me free
Stop playing with my heart
Finish what you start
When you make my love come down
If you want me let me know
Baby let it show
Honey don’t you fool around
