Riff: The Civil Wars – “Eavesdrop”

Aug 6, 2013

I can’t pull you closer than this/It’s just you and the moon on my skin

from Eavesdrop lyrics by The Civil Wars

A forbidden love may be practiced away from onlookers, but won’t stop the “wind and stars” from “eavesdropping.” Decently likable at first, but the coda’s goosebumpy “just hold me” build brings it to a whole different level, stopping just before any predictable bashing can commence.
