Riff: Sade – “Is it a Crime”

Dec 14, 2017

This may come, this may come/As some surprise, but I miss you/I could see through all of your lies/But still I miss you

from Is It a Crime lyrics by Sade

A love that is so wrong that it’s right. Despite her man’s propensity for lies and deception she still can’t help but love him, maybe even more after all is said and done. Her heart is a raging inferno, and the only person who can extinguish it is not there. She’s waiting patiently describing to all those who will listen just how deep her love is. Per usual her vocal range is off the charts, capturing the dramatic peaks and valleys that come with forbidden love. Her band knows its role, playing accessory to her highness and letting her command the throne as she sees fit. Together they create a crime noir-like feeling that captures the sullen mood that Sade’s lover has left her in.
