Riff: Mumford & Sons – “Whispers in the Dark”

Oct 2, 2012

I’m a cad but I’m not aflawed/I set out to serve the Lord

from Whispers in the Dark lyrics by Mumford & Sons

Although Marcus Mumford has denied this song is a statement of his Christian faith, the Sons are most certainly undergoing an ecclesiastical-flecked existential crisis of sorts. Still, driven by Winston Marshall’s powerhouse banjo, we are spared of what could have been an overly self-indulgent slog.
