Riff: Katy Perry – “Wide Awake”

Dec 27, 2012

I wish I knew then what I know now/Wouldn’t give in, wouldn’t bow down

from Wide Awake lyrics by Katy Perry

“Wide Awake” lifts the chords from “Pumped Up Kicks” and dumps them into a dubstep-esque synth-bass. Sorry, Perry, but Coldplay already beat you to it with “Paradise.” And I still can’t get over Perry playing the wisened ex-victim (multiple times) after making her name using “gay” as a diss in 2008.
