Riff: J. Cole – “1985 (Intro to “The Fall Off”)”

Apr 25, 2018

Come here lil’ man, let me talk with ya/See if I can paint for you the large picture/Congrats ’cause you made it out your mama’s house/I hope you make enough to buy your mom a house

from 1985 (Intro to the lyrics by J. Cole

Cole walks away with a few choice words. He’s keeping it 100% real, admonishing the new wave of rappers while still offering his support and understanding. It sounds contradictory, but he’s simply stating his opinions with no hate attached. He wants everyone to succeed, but for him rap is a sacred art and the young bucks out there don’t seem to understand that. Class is in session.
