I’m not sure what an “afterman” is, but this is one of the strongest/least-bland singles to come out of mainstream rock recently. With their old drummer rejoining, Coheed tones down the shreddy prog and produces a catchy hit. It’s missing a necessary climax though – tom beats don’t cut it.

    The whole thing is about someone dying.. Therefore the “Afterman” is just that – whatever we are after we die.. A spirit, ghost, memory, grass.. Whatever it means to you. This is definitely a beautiful one

      Yeah it’s a sweet song. I read it was about our protagonist figuring out and/or finding “the energy source,” or something along those lines. Although, if your concept is right, that would fit well with the music, especially “The Hollow”
