Riff: Citizen Cope – “DFW”

Jan 15, 2013

If all we have is a story to pass and a memory to embrace/And all of this, I had to say goodbye to my baby today

from DFW lyrics by Citizen Cope

Although it initially appeared on 2012’s One Lovely Day, the laid-back hip-hop blues of Citizen Cope’s “DFW” appears tailor-made to soundtrack one particular aspect of Echols’ nightmare, namely the desolation of knowing that he may never see the wife he’d met on Death Row as a free man.
