Riff: Alkaline Trio – “The Temptation of St. Anthony”

Apr 2, 2013

The damage has been done/From the depths of your heart/To the tip of my tongue

from The Temptation of St. Anthony lyrics by Alkaline Trio

“Temptation” is a solid punk rock burner but sinks beneath the weight of lyrical yawns. Literally half of the track’s lines are fit for the Dictionary of Clichés, which is no easy (or admirable) feat. It almost seems as if lyricist Matt Skiba either lost a bet or is executing a “dare;” [LISTEN].
