The trajectory of Migos‘ smash hit “Bad and Boujee” has been nothing but up, up, up since Donald Glover gave them the Midas’ touch at the Golden Globes — notoriously calling the group “the Beatles of this generation.”
The song is resounding off the walls of clubs and house parties around the world so for Spotify, the opportunity to team up with the group to release a line of “Culture Cards” for the romantic Valentine season must have been a no-brainer. The cards feature word play on the hook from “Bad and Boujee” starting “Rain drop. Drop top…” and continuing with a sweetheart phrase that will clue anyone in that you’re crushing on them.
Some of the more imaginative cards include: “Rain drop. Drop top. _____ is the background on my desktop.” and “This is me shooting my shot shot.” Each card features the members of the group along with various other memorabilia like doves, Lamborghinis and cups of noodles.
Even though yesterday was Valentine’s day, everyone knows it’s mostly just a commercial holiday anyway. So why not take the opportunity to take a leap of faith and let that special someone know how you feel through trap lyrics. How far will this song go? It’s already become a viral hit — one of those things that people will look back to 2017 and think about as culturally significant, for better or worse.
