The most infamous blue pill of the 20th century saw its veritable rise on this day in 1998, when the FDA deemed it fit for consumption. Originally created to treat angina, doctors serendipitously realized Viagra did much more. And thus, a spam movement was born, trickling its way to all spectrums of popular culture, including many a punch line in music, hip-hop notwithstanding, as with 88-Keys‘ 2008 ode featuring Kanye West, “Stay Up! (Viagra),” in which a faux-elder Kanye opens with this monologue. Penis jokes – they just don’t get old, especially in the lyric world:

Her telling her homegirls that he couldn’t stay up
In the restaurant with her voice way up
Please keep it discreet
Keep the business out of the street
She said ‘I would if he’ll handle biz up in the sheets!
