Post Malone‘s “Rockstar” feat. 21 Savage has been one of the biggest hits of 2017. The platinum selling song was a fixture on the Billboard charts, holding the number one spot for several weeks. But recently it was revealed that Post Malone and 21 Savage were not the primary forces behind the mega hit.

In a tweet Joey Bada$$ revealed to the hip-hop world that he ghostwrote the song. The news came after T-Pain released a song featuring both him and Joey Bada$$. Most had assumed it was a remix, but Joey Bada$$ confirmed that it was not.

In a reply to a fan T-Pain wrote, “They took me off. And put 21 on. Me and Joey had it first.”

Joey Bada$$ quickly confirmed the news, tweeting “This is facts…I actually co-wrote the song w post quietly got my first #1 off that 💰💰💰 more ghostwriting in 2018.”

Post Malone was interviewed by Billboard and mentioned that Joey Bada$$ and T-Pain were in New York City’s Quad Studios together the night he recorded “Rockstar,” but he failed to mention anything about collaborating.

It was a surprise to hear the two worked together. Joey Bada$$ is known by many to be a “conscious” rapper, which is a title that is both flattering and constricting.

The news confirms that Joey Bada$$ has the versatility to pen any type of song, and while many thought T-Pain was trying to throw shade at Post Malone he was only stating the facts.

In a series of tweets T-Pain explained that it was the right move to exclude him from the final version.

Post Malone has neither confirmed nor denied the reports. Hear the original version below.
