As the marketing cart continues to be pushed in front of the album release horse these days, Team Hova – social media code-named #NewRules – one-upped their binder escapade over the weekend by revealing Jay-Z‘s use of Generation X sacred rock text, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” on his much hyped LP12, Magna Carta Holy Grail (July 4). Well Samsung actually gets the credit, as part of its $5 million deal to drop the album before the rest of the world, including the lyric sheet tease of the track in question, “Holy Grail,” in a free app. Anyhow, a Justin Timberlake credit makes things even more confusing as we get closer to the sound all this cross-over lightening will make. And it appears we’re in for a love song. Here’s to hoping it’s not sacrilege:
