To the 73-year-old Jeopardy! icon’s credit, he didn’t really attempt to channel the rhymes of the five artists – the Beastie Boys, Dr. Dre, Grandmaster Flash, Biggie and Public Enemy – laced in last night’s edition of the game show, within a category called “It’s a Rap,” aside from a wee bit of aggression on Chuck D’s first verse on “Timebomb.” So the lameness of his cadence is more a shot at the internet’s ability to make it seem like the dude is ready for an A-list cypher. Such a #AlexTrebek twitter blow up this caused that people thought he passed on to the great game show in the sky. Of course we’re feeding on the virility of it.
