Since the release of Reputation, Taylor Swift fans have come out in droves, expressing their cult-like love and support. As expected, there has also been a number of lyrical sleuths who have meticulously analyzed Swift’s lyrics in order to gain insight into the pop star’s colorful love life.

Swift’s relationships have always been a focal point, and many have come to speculate that “Dress” is about fellow pop sensation Ed Sheeran. Rumors began to swirl because of the verse:

They’ve got no idea
About me and you
There is an indentation
In the shape of you

Shape of You” is a popular Ed Sheeran song, and many believe that the reference is hinting at a possible fling between Swift and Sheeran. It’s caused quite a stir, but fans hoping for a storybook romance should pump the breaks.

In an interview posted on Instagram live Sheeran dismissed rumors saying, “I don’t think it is. I think if you read into it, it’s not…You know, because she mentions someone with a buzz cut hair cut, and I’ve never had a buzz cut hair cut.” Sheeran is citing a previous verse where Swift sings:

Flash back when you met me
Your buzz cut and my hair bleached

While they are openly affectionate towards one another, it appears that Sheeran and Swift are just friends not lovers. The revelation, however, won’t stop Swifties from speculating who’s who in her boy-crazed musings.
