Natasha Khan), stopped by Maide Vale studios via Zane Lowe‘s BBC Radio 1 program yesterday to talk new album shop and tease a meditative cover of Rihanna‘s quizzically tortured pop smash “We Found Love,” stripping it of Calvin Harris‘ club-banging heartbeat, and its high-school poetry-book angst of a first verse, giving the bones of its chorus a perfectly raw Joy Division pull, if fronted by Patti Smith. Khan’s at the peak of her powers here, even in cover-land.
