I don't know if Maxwell wrote this song, but the lyrics really touch me, and I love the song. I read where someone mentioned "This woman's work" - that is a remake - that isn't Maxwell's song - but it is also one with beautiful lyrics that touch me.

this song is beautiful. It makes me think of my ex and i when we were together we did eachother wrong but in the end we still loved each other and to this day we still love eachother even though we cant be together it just would never work between us when maxwell says " i should have shown you better nights better times better days... i miss you more and more" i identify with it. i feel like maybe if i had have been a better person to my ex we might be together even though its not totally my fault we are not together every time i hear that part i almost want to cry and wish for my ex back... I think this song is saying that the guy is the blame and he is the asshole that perhaps cause her to play on him. However, he finds out that she was the real deal but because of what went down they can not regain the past so the best that she can be for him is pleasent memory and he hopes she feels the same

This song reminds me of me and my kids' father. We did each other wrong and we are still friends. We know that we are no good for each other and we just want whats best for the bth.

For me, this song represents my first love and how messy things got in the end. Although we loved each other so much, we hurt each other deeply. It got to a point where we needed to leave the relationship. There will always be some regrets when it come to her. We never stop paying for the hearts we break even though we move on to new love. The lesson we all should take from this, don't hold on to a good person if you can't do them right. Don't cause more heartache than what is necessary. Actually, I was in a situation where I was hurt really bad and I feel like I could just as easily dedicate this song to the other person. I have decided that life moves on so why not release that person to love someone else if we are not meant to be despite the love that I will always have for him.

No he says she won't remember him or the trails of their relationship. The part with "you played me dirty, you played me so bad" sort of throws me but I can only guess that she gave him her all & he feel in love (which most men call game) and he couldn't handle it so he had to set her free. I guess...either way it is a great song about moving on from a relationship that is hurting you.... Lesson learned here!!

Maxwell broke up with the woman because she was cheating on him. Hence the lyrics, "you played me dirty your game was so bad." However, when the relationship began she was most likely faithful and a special woman. Hence the lyrics, "you came right, I was wrong." He wasn't treating her the way he should have early on. He knows he told her lies and should have showed her better times. These actions, most likely, led to her running games and playing Maxwell dirty. This is when he knows they can no longer be together. But it isn't a bad break because he realizes he pushed her to that point and it was a big mistake on his part. Regardless she has to go! He's almost telling her you cannot be with me because of what you did to me but if my dumbass had realized your worth from the beginning, we wouldn't be in this position. So, he knows letting her go will help to cure his hurt and at the same time she can find and experience true love by flying her pretty wings around.
