everyone can apply the meaning to this song how every it fits into their lives. i have recently been through a divorce. a very bad one mentally and spiritually. i got away from god for 2 years but i also got away from everything else. and as he says in the song, just going through the motions. i was dead inside for a long time. so just going through the motions doesnt necesarily mean on your spiritual side, it can also just mean in life in general. that's all i was doing. til i started going back to church and getting right with god again. and as i started getting right with god and his passion was growing inside of me again, i started living life again and i quit just going through the motions of life. everyone has their own interpretation of the song for how it applies to their lives and their experiences. just like the bible. you can read the same verse 10 times and it might effect you 10 different ways depending on what's going on in your life. nobody is wrong and nobody is right. if the guy gets sex out of it, thats fine. it's not our job to condemn him. you never know what a person has been through to make them see things in a certain perspective.

when i think of this song, i think it is about a relationship and that they just believe that they are a couple on paper and they dont really love each other and that he wants all her love inside of him? anyone can interput the song as they like. If you think of it so much about god, then why dont you accept what other people think because that is what Jesus would do? hypocrites

No, he's talking about giving your life fully surrendered to Jesus Christ. In other words, rather than just pretending to be a Christian and going through religious motions, he is saying he wants to be the person who God can ask anything of him and he'll do it. He doesn't want to look back having never done anything for God.
