(ooo ooo)
Waiting for
My words to catch just like I'm trying,
To strike a match that's soaking wet.
See-through skull, see-through skin,
Leave all the lights on,
Can't see out but they see in.
Stare down my nose,
Watching the color drain from my eyes,
Cold cereal and TV,
Before I go to sleep.
(ooo ooo)
Breathing out, hoping to breathe in.
I know nothing's wrong but I'm not convinced.
No, I know, I know how far it's gone, myself.
Maybe I'll believe it from somebody else. ((x2))
(ooo ooo)
Breathing out, hoping to breathe in.
I know nothing's wrong but I'm not convinced.
I can't let it happen, just let it happen.
Just don't leave so much, don't leave so much.
(ooo ooo)
This is Local Natives’ way of breaking up the emotional excursion that has blanketed the entire album. It’s jovial percussion, lighthearted riffs, and catchy hook tugs at the same strings that propelled them to stardom with Gorilla Manor, a pop anthem ready for some mainstream recognition.
With “Breakers,” Local Natives draw more comparisons to Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear – for better and for worse. The wittily dry depictions of “cold cereal and TV/Before I go to sleep,” atop fresh percussion and jangling guitars intrigue, but the chorus sounds a tad too much like a future iPod ad.
