I want to be rich and I want lots of money
I don't care about clever I don't care about funny
I want loads of clothes and fuckloads of diamonds
I heard people die while they are trying to find them

And I'll take my clothes off and it will be shameless
Cause everyone knows that's how you get famous
I'll look at The Sun and I'll look in The Mirror
I'm on the right track yeah I'm onto a winner

Chorus
I don't know what's right and what's real anymore
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
When do you think it will all become clear
Cause I'm being taken over by the fear

Life's about film stars and less about mothers
It's all about fast cars and cussing each other
But it doesn't matter cause I'm packing plastic
And that's what makes my life so fucking fantastic

And I am a weapon of massive consumption
[ Lily Allen Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]
And it's not my fault it's how I'm programmed to function
I'll look at The Sun and I'll look in The Mirror
I'm on the right track yeah we're onto a winner

Chorus
I don't know what's right and what's real anymore
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
When do you think it will all become clear
Cause I'm being taken over by the fear

Forget about guns and forget ammunition
Cause I'm killing them all on my own little mission
Now I'm not a saint but I'm not a sinner
Now everything's cool as long as I'm getting thinner

Chorus
I don't know what's right and what's real anymore
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
When do you think it will all become clear
Cause I'm being taken over by the fear

I can totally relate to this song. it's like I wrote it myself about a "darker" time in my life just like she sings about not too long ago. : )~ hey, who's watching me?

This song is the best song I have heard in a very long time. Lily Allen gives our self righteous selfish destructive modern American culture a look in the eye and delivers a song that tells it like it is. The reason it is so powerful is because she isn't just aiming this outward, she is including herself in this too. Thank you!

The quiet intensity of her sarcasm immediately catches your attention.

"I heard people die while they are trying to find them [diamonds]" speaks about the dangers of being "cool" and greedy.

The disregard of morals in favor of fame, too, is obvious . . .

The Chorus, I think, is talking about the loss of identity some people feel: in a relativist environment, where what's "right" differs between people, it's hard to believe in your own morals. -This is the "Fear" she talks about, so she clings more tightly to materialism in the face of losing herself- she thinks being famous and rich will justify her as a person.

"less about mothers" and more about "cussing each other" very aptly describes the degradation of our personal relationships in modern American culture.

I also like how she combined the phrases "weapon of mass destruction" and "mass consumption." an attack at two things that are going wrong: our overconsumption, and aggressive attitudes to other countries.

"That's how I'm programmed to function" is a small stab at the belief that people have no free will of their own, and are only reflections of the influences around them. -And how this belief allows people to release themselves of responsibility of their actions. "I'm not a saint and I'm not a sinner" reinforces this idea.

And, last, the "as long as I'm getting thinner" could be a mourning for the diseases we've literally "created"- anorexia and bolemia, and the falling self-esteem of teenage girls in the wake of the Media's portrayal of women.

Good job, Lily, the world needs this kick in the pants, wake up call, or whatever other cliche you care to name.
