La Roux - Fascination Lyrics

Artist: La Roux

Album: La Roux

Genre: Pop

  • Songwriters: Darren Costin, Jack Hues, Nicholas Feldman

It's been seven hours long
And your shadow still hangs on
You've been two weeks gone
And so tonight I followed you home

There are so many different ways of collecting all the strays
The ones that get away

Old fascinations, we crave new sensations
Old fascination, it's feeding my frustrations
It's feeding my frustrations and I haven't got the patience

These sheets are still warm
This bed is our only home
We make arrangements over the phone
Where has all the conversation gone?

There are so many different ways of collecting all the strays
The ones that get away

Old fascinations, we crave new sensations
Old fascination, it's feeding my frustrations
It's feeding my frustrations and I haven't got the patience

Frustrations, sensations
Fascinations, Fascinations
Frustrations, sensations
Fascinations, fascinations

Old fascinations, new sensations
Old fascinations, new sensations
Old fascinations, we crave new sensations
Old fascinations, it's feeding my frustrations

Cor, there's quite a bit of the shag going around, isn't there? Whether it's a good romp or bad, the vocals are killer and the execution genius. La Roux's got something good going for them!

Yeah I agree with you too, i also think the chorus:

    Old fascinations
    We crave new sensations
Old fascination is feeding my frustration
    It's feeding my frustrations
And I haven't got the patience

is also about sex and about discovering how it feels to be intimate with a new person or....a previous lover who you haven't been intimate with for a while and then you see them again after 2 weeks or 7 hours and you just want to leap on them again because you miss their presence so much.

Or it could mean that her fascination with something someone did previously in a physical, sexual way was something she really liked and hasn't done that in a while and it brings her a new sensation thinking about it...?

Frustrations could also be her sex drive or how she is frustrated with herself if this "new fascination" is an old lover she forgot about until now and she wants to get back with them, and so she does everything she can to get back to having sex with that girl. i.e. "I haven't got the patience"
and also "these sheets are still warm" could symbolize her trying to convince the girl, "we are still in love with each other...so come back into this 'bed' and let's make love like we used to."

I think the song is about falling in love with someone who you've fallen for before but forgotten about and that new feeling and trying to get it back/get a hold of it.

From the chorus, just listening to it for the first time, I thought that it was about when you first meet someone new and you have a crush on them/fall in love with them and that feeling of first being so fascinated with them and then eventually you get to sleep with them and the experiences that you have with each other are the best sensations...but now looking at the lyrics it looks like she knew this person from a previous relationship.

I think this song is about the change in a relationship when sex comes into the picture. They related more on a physical basis but have lost a connection on a mental and emotional level
