Julian Velard (born 6 October 1979), is an American pianist and singer-songwriter, born and raised in New York City.
Velard was born and raised in New York City, New York. He attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and Hampshire College, in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he studied under Yusef Lateef. He did the music for the Noah Buschel film, Bringing Rain, starring Adrian Grenier. Before moving to London and signing a UK based record deal in June 2007, Velard toured around America and released 3 indie records.
On November 27, 2007, he made his first appearance in Paris, supporting Kate Nash. Throughout February and May, 2008, he supported Amy Macdonald on a sold-out tour of the UK and Ireland. Velard made his first appearance in the Netherlands in November 2008 at The Crossing Borders Festival, alongside Ben Folds, Death Cab For Cutie and Fleet Foxes.
