I believe the song is about the evil beings (govs business etc) in the world "comes in black or red". "they connect with the fall of man" meaning that they are our downfall. "There is nothing we can do for them" is literal. We cant stop them because they refuse to stop. "Love is broken" meaning that they have no love only the drive for materials things. "By the light of plasma screens" which also restates the material things and how we are mesmorized. I believe that most of their album is talking about how the world today is so messed up. :0

It could be interpreted how you want to, as most songs in Plastic Beach, or well, in Gorillaz, or well, in Damon Albarn (yeah, he's a poet :P). I see that its a relationship that is ending. "I've seen their worlds in my head", that reminds me of the Blur song, 'No Distance Left to Run", that talks about his broken relationship.
The "plasma screens we keep switched on while we sleep", its probably a mention when a relationship its almost dead, when people doesn't make love any more, don't talk anymore either in bed, so they just watch tv while they fall to sleep.

damon never talks about simple things less love in couples but you can hear the song and interpretate like you want damons disre. the song menas relationships beteew ourselves and live around us"! GRANDE DAMON!!!!!!!

I wonder if "theres nothing you can say to her" refers to mother earth/ our embodyment of the natural.

The plasma screens line is a reference to our attachment to our technology, our materialistic way of life, which consumes us even in our sleep.
'he is an outer heart' - perhaps a reference to the collective consciousness of humans.... Speaking of the higher power that exists outside of our material world and understanding.
Definitely a sad song. Our connection to the absolute truly is broken. And in its only natural way, it seeks to correct itself.... Even at our expense. We move toward it every second. Know that we will all return to the void, and become whole once again.

I got goosebumps on my arms the first time I heard this :P basically, there were two couples, and the man from one couple and the woman from the other fell in love or whatever, and abandoned the other two. 2D, or Damon, if you must, has a broken heart and sort of coupled with the girl that was left. he says that his love with his ex is "broken"...
