Melissa Arnette Elliott (born July 1, 1971), better known by her stage name Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, is an American recording artist, producer, actress and former member of the R&B band Sista as well as the Swing Mob collective. With record sales of over seven million in the United States, she is the only female rapper to have six albums certified platinum by the RIAA, including one double platinum for her 2002 album Under Construction. She is known to be the best selling female rap artist of all time.

Elliott is known for a series of hits and diverse music videos, including "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)", "Hot Boyz", "Get Ur Freak On", "One Minute Man", "Work It", "Pass That Dutch", and "Lose Control." In addition, she has worked extensively as a songwriter and producer for other artists, both alone and with her producer and childhood friend Timbaland, with whom she received her first production credit on R&B singer Ginuwine's 1996's album Ginuwine...the Bachelor. After further successful work on Aaliyah's 1996 album One in a Million, she went on to produce music for performers such as Mya, Lil' Kim, Mariah Carey, Keyshia Cole, Lil' Mo, Trina, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, Fantasia, Nicole Wray, Jazmine Sullivan, Blaque, Janet Jackson, Tweet, Magoo, Monica, MC Lyte, and Madonna, among many others.
