Chickenfoot - Avenida Revolution Lyrics

Artist: Chickenfoot

Album: Chickenfoot

Genre: Rock

Hey you

Rio Grande crawling with desperation
Hard drugs linin' the gunny sack
The air is thick with perspiration
A new life waits for the wetback

Crossing the borderline
Into the fire

Now this is where Juan left his family
You can still smell the blood in his tracks
Yeah, and this is where we found the baby
Oh, from here there ain't no turnin' back

Crossing the borderline
Into the fire
Crossing the borderline
Into the fire

Import, transport, exportation
Rights of nations, exploited salvation
Damnation under one God's fixation
Without deportations, prejudice with limitations

Yeah, Avenida Revolution
Nogales, Tiajuana, Mexicali, Juarez
We got flowers, crosses and no solution
Oh, stay close and do what mommy says
What mommy says, mommy says

We're crossing the borderline
Into the fire
Crossing the borderline
Into the fire

Crossing the borderline, yeah, yeah
Into the fire, hey, hey, hey you

Crossing the borderline, hey you
Crossing the borderline
Into the fire, hey you, hey, hey, hey you

Bullets, tear gas, barbed wire fences
Thirsty dogs, sun, sandy trenches
Night crawling human, insects breeding
Feet, hands, arms, backs still bleeding

Trust me, these "wetbacks" are the backbone of this country. You're welcome! Trust me, you taxes are spent on worse things. This is actually a good thing, because many of you Americans are too lazy to work, so they do the work for you... again, you're welcome. Oh and Europeans crossed over THE OCEAN to this country... so who are the real wetbacks here? What a self-righteous hypocrite Sammy Hagar is. It's true, such irony that Hagar makes a fortune in Cabo San Lucas (given his "Cabo Wabo" crap). And before you call me a liberal, take note that I am not. I notice you don't have the stones to identify yourself....do you support your taxes going to two illegal wars? If so, you're a hypocrite, as our tax dollars also go to citizens of those countries. they are not citizens here, are they? Big mouth's, trolls, shills, (particularly those who post anonymously) etc. need to do some research....

Great, lets apply the laws of both countries and respect each others sovereignty. What part of illegal do you not understand?
I am pissed my taxes are spent on those who are NOT citizens of this country! The last fool remark about "exploiting Mexico" surely hates this country or loves to give handouts to those who break the law. Maybe he believes in entitlements instead of earning your way through life. Go figure...

Given the amount of headless bodies found in Mexico and Baja lately and in the border cities in the U.S. due to these drug gangs and cartels, you'd think people would get it, but then again tolerance is part of the problem, ain't it? This song is so right on. Take it in context.

let us not fall prey to desperation, this song is simply a result of racism and shortsightedness and hurtfuly tags all illegal bordercrossers as vermin infecting the u.s. ! the irony is that sammy hagar has made a fortune in mexico with his place at cabo san lucas goes to show how ungrateful and hypocrite can a person be. hope you get deported you friggin` imbecile!

Grow up and use your intellect rather than rush into the discourse of banality--buffoon.

The song is about more than "wetbacks" crossing the border. The song is about the paradox of affluence and how one nation (the U.S. as superpower) is inherently exploiting Mexico with unilateral policies and exploitative practices that pressure the disenfranchised to cross into the U.S. and earn a living by whatever means necessary (into the fire)--which means that the situation is gonna get worse, not better as perceived by many. It's no wonder why Europeans and others from Asian and Latin American countries etc. think Americans are so retarded; they provide have-witted comments like the previous one and delude themselves into thinking it is "critical" and "profound."

Americans tend to be so pragmatic that it makes them stupid.
