Elmer Figueroa Arce (born June 28, 1968), best known under the stage name Chayanne, is a Puerto Rican Latin pop singer. His artistic name comes from a western television series, Cheyenne that his mother used to watch.
Elmer Figueroa Arce was born in Rio Piedras, a suburb of San Juan, to Quintino Figueroa, a sales manager, and Irma Luz Arce, a teacher. When he was still a baby, his family moved to San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. He has four siblings: Clara, Kenny, Emmanuel and Elliot. He began using the artistic name of "Chayanne" when he was 19 years old.
