Amazing Grace
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home.

When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

John Newton 1725-1807

    to expand on that story, he was a slave trader transporting a full cargo when a terrible storm struck. that man feared for his life and began to fiercly pray for the safety of himself and his crew. he begged and pleaded with god for hours on end until at last he declared that he would free these slaves and join a momostary when he returned to the mainland. the man was as good as his word and joined the monostary where he later wrote this song, a testiment of the forgivness of the lord
