I heard this song was based off of a Poem by Roger Waters written about drugs "Rusting Syd's brain."
The lyrics are pretty interesting when you thing about it like this.

depending on how you look at this song, peoples first reaction is some guys problems with a relationship.

the first verse caught my attention. everyones got an opinion and they are all right.

in my eyes, i think this song defines the "tragedy" of how everything could be lost in seconds... and then where does it get you? its about staying strong and obtaining a stronger well being by being able to take the pain and move on.

this is a hit song no matter what anyone says. keep up the great lyrics guys.

Sounds like a man whose been torturing himself over a breakup even though the relationship was one of "pointing fingers", blame, falacies of control etc.
