Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
***********************************

Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies.
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with caleidoscope eyes.

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone.

[Ref :] Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Lucy in the sky with diamonds, ah, ah

Follow her downto a bridge by the fountain
where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies.

Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
That grow so incredibly high.

Newspaper taxis appear on the shore
Waiting to take you away
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds
And you're gone.

Ref.

Picture yourself on a train in a station
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile,
The girl with caleidoscope eyes.

Comments and Song Meanings

Defineteively an LSD song (c'mon), but the great John Lennon decided to give the world a different story.

Do people really think it was so far beneath John to write a song for his son without it having to be about LSD? Oh, maybe that's where the imagery for "Alice in Wonderland" came from. Silly me.

I think that this song is about LSD the main initials of the title. Many people say that John wrote it innocently. I love John, but the only reason he lied about it and said it was named after his son's picture of his friend Lucy, was because he didn't want to get in trouble with the police! I mean think about it, the song's lyrics descrcibe what it feels like to be on LSD.
