Avenged Sevenfold - Victim Lyrics

Artist: Avenged Sevenfold

Album: Nightmare

Genre: Rock

  • Songwriters: Zachary James Baker, Brian Elwin Jr Haner, Matthew Charles Sanders, James Owen Sullivan

House full of roses, a letter on the stairs
A tape full of messages for anyone who cares
Collage of broken words and stories full of tears
Remembering your life 'cause we wish that you were here

Nothing is harder than to wake up all alone
Realize it's not okay, it's the end of all you know
Time keeps passing by but it seems I'm frozen still
Scars are left behind but some too deep to feel

And some say this can't be real
And I've lost my power to feel tonight
We're all just victims of a crime

When all's gone and can't be regained
We can't seem to shelter the pain inside
We're all just victims of a crime

Some days you'll find me in the place I like to go
Ask questions to myself 'bout the things I'll never know
What's left to find 'cause I need a little more
I need a little time, can we even up the score?

And some say this can't be real
And I've lost my power to feel tonight
We're all just victims of a crime

When all's gone and can't be regained
We can't seem to shelter the pain inside
Ooh, we're all just victims of a crime

And nothing lasts forever, for all good days, it's true
I'd rather trade it all for somehow saving you
And must have been the season that threw us out of mind
Once I stood so tall, now I'm searching for a sign

So don't need your salvation with promises and kind
And all those speculation, save it for another time
'Cause we all need a reason, a reason just to stay
Well, some just can't be bothered to stick around another day

Ooh, how would some say this can't be real?
And I've lost my power to feel, tonight
We've all been victims of a crime

When all's gone and can't be regained
We can't seem to shelter the pain inside
Ooh, we've all been victims of a crime
Victims of a crime, living with this crime

I'm missing you, I'm missing you
I'm missing you, I'm missing you

Although it was never proven wether he killed himself or not, the lyrics of many songs he wrote point to the conclusion that he did, (particularly fiction.)
The fact that the rest of the band found out 2 days after his death that while in practice 4 days before, Jimmy recorded his demo vocals (Not what they normally do) showing that he KNEW he was not going to be there to record them with the band. Also, many other lyrics in various other songs have references to dying young and dying early.

All of you saying 'he didn't kill himself, stop being disrespectful'.
You Have no idea what was going on in his head, he was a very confused person, and the concoction of prescribed drugs he was on messed his head about something terrible.

I am not being disrespectful to Jimmy, or any of his family/band.
We miss you James, and we love you foREVer ♥ ♥ ♥ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

    omg everyone kay
first: the opening vocals are johnny, a7x talks about it in their online chat and hes also in the credits of the album for it. so far away was written by syn and jimmy back when syn's grandfather died, but they never finished it. after jimmy died synyster then went back and reworked the song and made it about jimmy.
second: fiction was originally written by jimmy and synyster, not in 2001 but was more recent. it was meant for the second pinkly smooth album but after jimmys death the band disbanded. syn laid down the original piano for it, not sure how much was him and how much was the rev however. towards the end of his life, jimmy picked the song back up and finished and handed it in 3 days before his death.
third: the rev also has vocals on save me although it is only the "skulls" at the beginning
fourth: the rev wrote about 60% of the album, guitar, orchestral pieces, vocals, drums, everything except guitar solos on certain songs. after his death the band changed the lyrics in most of the songs to be about his death and his life. the only ones they didnt change were nightmare danger line and fiction.
hope this helps some people out

Listen it isn't the rev in the beginning it's one of the back up singers for whitney Houston. And the revs vocals are in save me and fiction. And he finished fiction 3 days before he died and so far away was written by syn

You got that right, @LastWritter, if this people would knew Jimmy, they wouldn't even think about suicide... He lived for Leana and the band members, of course. And the song Fiction, was acctually named ''Death'', but Matthew renamed it after Jimmy's death; It was written way before time, in past 2001, meant to be used in Jimmy's band ''Pinkly Smooth'', but he never finished it, after they succeded with Avenged Sevenfold... Now he decided to use it on the new album, and he finished it on the Christmass 12/25, three days before he died. About his vocals, they had them because Jimmy was recording his songs at home, so the band had some background theme when playing, and, lucky for them, the voice was good enough to use it in a song.
And Jimmy DOES sing in some other songs too, for example in the Nightmare, where all except Johhny are singing.
P.s. Song ''So far away'' did NOT wrote Jimmy, but Brian (Synyster), AFTER Jimmy died. It is fully dedicated to Jimmy. And stop talking some shit about things you DON'T know. Not for me, but for Jimmy. Please!

The rev didn't commit Suicide you idiots. The album is called "Nightmare". It's about ppls worst nightmares. Funerals and a friend dying being one of them. The rev didn't kill himself and fiction wasn't a suicide not nor was it a hint that he died. If u seriously knew him u would know he wouldn't do that, ever.

the rev DID record some vocals before he died, but i don't think they're in this song

i think the only vocals he got done are heard in the song he wrote, Fiction... that's the only song that you can definitely hear his voice

the rev isnt in this song, this is zackys vocals with mike portnoy on drums. the only song with the rev is the song he wrote the night before he died, which is number 10... fiction.

ok for people who dont know the Rev commited suicide, focus on the lyrics of his last song Fiction, and then So Far away and this one is all about the Rev and the whole situation he is in.

  • Anonymous

umm.. the whole album is about the rev and its not the rev singing its Sharlotte Gibson, x

"Nothing is harder than to wake up all alone" ...Yep, definitely about The Rev...

I think it is THE REV his voice in the beginning
I heard they recorded his voice before he died.
And normaly there is another song (on the limited edition) where you can here THE REV.

    RIP The Rev

The Chilling vocals in the intro really sound a lot like the rev to me, especially the last note.
