The Rev never told the guys he was going to commit suicide, whomever said that is stupid -_- He had said all his life that he thought he would die before age 30, but he never commited suicide or told anyone he wanted to or was going to. R.I.P Jimmy

first, a7x is one of my all time favorite bands. they are quite amazing. im very saddened about the rev.

but i wanted to make a point of clarification in regard to the "god hates us. god hates us all." line. while the band members are christian, this is not a "christian music band" so it is possible the line has nothing to do with god and just sounded good. if it DOES have meaning though:

the key word would be "all", NOT "hates". they could have said "god smells us. god smells us all." or replaced 'hates' with literally ANY verb and it would have the exact same meaning.

as saints, they know that god will NEVER forsake us. i think what is meant by the "god hates us. god hates us all." line is that god sees no man as more or less worthy than any other man. sin is sin and every living person is equally guilty. that was the whole point of sending his son to save us afterall. but again, this is assuming the line does have real meaning.

First of all, the Rev didn't commit suicide... and, secondly, the album wasn't finished before he died. They have demos of songs with him on an electronic drum kit, hence the Nightmare demo that they released. Portnoy took his parts that THE REV had written, and did his best to replicate the Rev's style of drumming. As far as all of the lyrics being about death and suicide, the only songs that they kept the lyrics on from the demos were Nightmare, Danger Line and Fiction. Fiction was written by the Rev from start to finish, with Shadows adding his vocals along side the Rev's. Notice how Nightmare and Danger Line have nothing to do with suicide or death; Danger Line is a war song, much like Gunslinger, or M.I.A. on previous albums. The band had already written lyrics before he died, and changed them based on the events that have unfolded. I'm 100% convinced that his death was accidental, and he had no intentions of killing himself. He had an amazing life, and and amazing fiance, and an amazing band... to throw that away like that is unimaginable.

It's not a coincidence considering the Rev was alive for the album to be finished. This is one of the only ones not about the Rev. So a if anyone knows a song meaning, go for it.

Avenged is the best!!!! The band is like a fine wine, only gets better with age!!!! Best album of the decade!!!!

"god doesnt hate us" shut the f*** up idiots. thats not even what this song is about. it has nothing to do with god so keep your bible talk to yourself you fucking hipocrtical assholes. sevenfold is an amazing band, especially when you realize their lyrics are deeper than words and mean so much more.

Agreed avenged sevenfold is amazing...from sounding the seventh trumpet to nighmare they have been kickin ass and god hates us is on the long list of one of the best

God does not hate us, if He hated us He wouldn't have sent His Son to die for out sins. Truth is we hate God because we're sinful people. Think about it, we take God's name in vain regularly, yet we don't hear people take Hitler's name in vain. Why not? It's because we are rebelling against a good God, not evil people. You see, every one of us has broken God's commands, we've lied, stolen, lusted, and the list goes on. But "God shows His live for us in this, that while we were still sinners Christ died for our sins" Romans 5:8 and the familiar verse "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 Believe in Jesus that God does love you, how ought we to live differently if we believe this? Turn from your sins and put your faith in Jesus. God has made a way for us to be saved, but if we reject it we'll go to hell as judgment. And that would not be because God hates us but because you hated God and rejected His offer of salvation.

God doesn't hate us we are here as a trial and the people can't be here and in heaven (or hell). In other words people must die.

I love all of their albums and once again theyve managed to give me goosebumps and make the little hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, quality work lads \m/ foREVer \m/
