All That Remains - Two Weeks Lyrics

Artist: All That Remains

Album: Overcome

  • Songwriters: Jason Costa, Oliver Scott Herbert, Phillip Steven Labonte, Mike Martin

And you neglected, I called you out, don't please
I said we're stronger than this now
You resurrected mistakes years past it seemed
And they exist to still haunt you

And still you feel like the loneliness is better replaced by this
I don't believe it this way
And I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize growing stronger each day

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave, don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away

I remember, don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

I wanted nothing but for that trust again
And brick by brick you would take it
You feared of phantoms and none exist but you
You still saw fit to destroy it

And still you feel like the loneliness is better replaced by this
I don't believe it this way
And I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize growing stronger each day

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave, don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away

I remember, don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

And you neglected, I called you out, don't please
I said we're stronger than this now
You feared of phantoms and none exist but you
You still saw fit to destroy it

And I can see the fear in your eyes
I've seen it materialize growing stronger each day

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave, don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave, don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away

I remember, don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

I could see it as you turned to stone
Still clearly I can hear you say
Don't leave, don't give up on me
Two weeks and you ran away

I remember, don't lie to me
You couldn't see that it was not that way
Swear I never gave up on you

This song isn't totally about the relationship part. I see it more about a friend or family member and or boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife watching someone they love destroy themselves with some form of addiction. The video depicts it being drugs but there are so many addictions to list that the video could or even the song could represent.

The addiction in the music video is drugs, however, you can find any addiction that fits your life and make this song the sound track to it. It's an excelent song and I give props to the boys that wrote it. It's hard to write a song about something this powerful and they did.

My ex and I were standing in a tattoo parlous downtown and this song came on, he sang the lyrics while looking at me. I almost started crying because we officially only lasted two weeks..
It's random how accurately it fit, but I love All That Remains!

It's the story of a relationship destroyed by addiction or depression. Watching someone self destruct and fall away is accurately described in these lyrics.
