In an interview with Jerry Cantrell, he said Check My Brain was about his move to L.A. How he was heavy into the drugs while he lived in Seattle. Now that he is clean, he has moved to L.A where drugs are plentiful and everyone does them. Says it doesn't bother him. He compares it to a recovered gambler living in Las Vegas, where the poison is all around you. Jerry was quoted as calling it "Ironic".
