Alejandro Fernández Abarca (born April 24, 1971) is a Mexican singer.
Nicknamed as "El Potrillo" (The Colt) by the media and his fans, he has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Alejandro is the son of the ranchera singer Vicente Fernández. He originally specialized in traditional, earthy forms of Mexican folk music, such as mariachi and ranchera. He has branched out with great success to pop music.
His first public appearance was in 1977 in one of his father's shows. Alejandro was meant to perform the song "Alejandra" but in the middle of the song he forgot the lyrics, started crying and suffered a panic attack, but his father got on stage and helped him singing along the song.
